General Information
• NOTICE Notice is hereby given that letters of interest and statements of
qualifications will be accepted by the City of Joplin, Missouri for development of the National Register of Historic Places nominations for two small commercial
districts located in downtown Joplin.
• PURPOSE The purpose of this request is to select a firm to assist the City of
Joplin in meeting grant criteria issued by the State Historic Preservation Office which includes the development of the National Register of Historic Places nominations for two small commercial districts located in downtown Joplin.
• BRIEF SCOPE OF SERVICES Consultant will prepare National Register of
Historic Places nominations for two small commercial districts located in
downtown Joplin. The proposed districts will include (a) The 100 block of S.
Main, west side. Potential Criteria and Areas of Significance: Criteria A and C in the areas of Commerce and Architecture (b) S. Wall and 3rd St. Area roughly
bounded by S. Wall, 1st St., S. Joplin and 3rd St. Potential Criteria and Areas of Significance Criteria A and C in the areas of Commerce and Architecture. This
district comprises approximately 13 buildings.
• The consultant will host two public forums; one at the initial stages of the creation of the documents and the second forum before final submittal to the State Historic Preservation Office. The Consultant will be responsible for meeting the grant milestones and or navigating the reorientation of the milestones as established by the State Historic Preservation Office.
