Advisory Council on Historic Preservation Section 106 Training

ACHP announces it's 2010 Section 106 Training Schedule

11-09-09 - Training Opportunity
DC, United States, North America

The ACHP is pleased to announce its Section 106 training schedule for 2010. We are offering both the 106 Essentials course and the Advanced Seminar in 6 locations. All courses are taught by highly knowledgeable ACHP staff who are engaged both on a daily basis and have practical hands-on experience with Section 106 issues. Attendees taking our courses receive an added benefit from the expertise that our instructors bring to the course.

The Section 106 Essentials and Advanced Seminar are the only Section 106 courses taught by the federal agency responsible for administering the National Historic Preservation Act’s Section 106 review process. The Essentials class is a two-day course designed for those who are new to Section 106 review or those who want an in-depth refresher on its basic operation. The course explains the requirements of Section 106 of the National Historic Preservation Act, which applies any time a federal, federally assisted, or federally approved activity might affect a property listed in or eligible for the National Register of Historic Places.
The Advanced Section 106 Seminar is designed for environmental and cultural resources personnel with experience in the 106 process and focuses on the effective management of complex or controversial undertakings that require compliance with Section 106 of the National Historic Preservation Act. Taught in a smaller, interactive setting, key topics discussed will include how to use consultation to resolve disputes, identifying creative ways to address conflicts between development plans and preservation values, and how to negotiate and prepare agreement documents.
