Northland Research, Inc is seeking applicants for a full time temporary curatorial position with the possibility of longer term employment. Location of job is at the Archeology and Paleontology Curation Center, Marine Corps Air Ground Task Force Training Command (MAGTFTC) at the Marine Corps Air Ground Combat Center, Twentynine Palms. The purpose of this position is to assist with accessioning, processing, and maintaining the archaeological collections and archives curated aboard the Marine Corps Air Ground Combat Center. Duties range from accessioning archaeological collections produced both internally and externally for storage within the MCAGCC Archaeological Curation Facility, assessing collections in preparation for cataloging and storage, performing basic conservation treatments, cleaning and labeling artifacts, packaging artifacts and specimens, and keeping detailed records of all of the above duties. Additional duties include contributing to the daily maintenance and physical operations of the Archeological Curation Facility via the recordation and monitoring of temperature, relative humidity, light, and pests.
The successful applicant will have a Bachelor’s degree in anthropology or archeology and must have completed a field school or equivalent. In addition, he/she must be familiar with Microsoft Office software; must be able to complete collections dataset in extensive Excel spreadsheets. Preference will be given to applicants with experience in an archeological laboratory setting. The applicant should have a solid understanding of archeological field methods and the Federal Standards as detailed in 36 CFR 79. Experience with ArcGIS a plus.
This is a full time position. Compensation is competitive and will be commensurate with experience.
