The Delaware Department of Transportation’s Division of Transportation Solutions is seeking a Planner III (Architectural Historian). The position will work on statewide cultural resource projects involving history and historic preservation, perform historic architectural cultural resource surveys, eligibility determinations and impact assessment to determine the effect of transportation projects on significant resources and the appropriate treatment of affected resources.
Successful candidates must have a Bachelors degree in Architectural History or related field AND at least two years of work experience in historic preservation or restoration projects. OR a Masters degree in Architectural History or related field. In addition, candidates must have at least two years experience as a planner OR at least two years experience in a planning function. Candidate must have experience in designing, collecting data, analyzing and presenting results of a most complex planning project. Additionally, candidates must have experience as a project manager/leader on a complex project.
Preference will be given to candidates with knowledge of Delaware regional architectural history and design, and/or knowledge of 36 CFR Part 800, Section 106, National Historic Preservation Act compliance. Position is a pay grade 15 and salary is $42,801- $53,501. This is a career ladder position with potential to promote to the Planner IV level.
