Coastal Carolina Research, a wholly owned subsidiary of Commonwealth Cultural Resources Group, Inc, has a position open for an Architectural Historian. CCR and CCRG have a combined staff of over 40 cultural resource technical professionals and support staff providing cultural resource services to government agencies and private clients throughout the Midwest and the Mid-Atlantic and Southeastern states. This position will be located in the historic town of Tarboro, North Carolina.
The applicant will have a strong knowledge of National Register of Historic Places (NRHP) eligibility criteria and have extensive experience in conducting survey and evaluations of historic buildings, structures, and districts. The applicant will have experience with preparing state survey forms and knowledge of regional architectural history and architectural styles of the Southeast and Mid-Atlantic regions. The successful candidate will be able to work independently and as part of a team, and must be able to travel as necessary to project locations.
The position requires historic architectural research in support of CRM projects, with responsibility for all aspects of fieldwork; report content and preparation; Section 106, Section 4(f), and NEPA documentation; and NRHP evaluations and recommendations.
The position requires a Master’s degree in Historic Preservation or related field and a minimum of three year’s experience. Strong written and oral skills, and proficiency with digital photography, MS Word, Excel, and PowerPoint are required.
