Job Description

Mead & Hunt, a nationally recognized professional services consulting firm, is seeking a highly motivated Historic Preservation Specialist in our Sacramento, CA; Minneapolis, MN; Austin, TX or Madison, WI office. Responsibilities include but are not limited to: completing activities for Section 106 compliance including the identification and evaluation of historic resources while applying the National Register Criteria; conducting research and site visits; preparing reports including historic contexts, property descriptions, and evaluations of properties; and working with clients and project managers on architectural surveys, Section 106 compliance, and cultural resource projects. Travel will be required.

The successful candidate will have (or receive by June 30, 2013) a master’s degree in historic preservation or related field such as: history, architectural history, art history, public history, cultural resource management.

The ideal candidate will have any/all of the following: experience completing cultural resource management activities for Section 106 projects; experience with transportation projects; experience authoring reports including: descriptions, historic context, and statements of significance. Ideal candidates will also have the ability to conduct research, field survey and apply the National Register criteria; an ability to navigate deadlines; and an ability to provide examples of work that demonstrates strong writing, research and communication skills.
