Archaeologists from Janus Research in Tampa have been studying the vessels and taking samples for carbon dating — dates could be available in one to two months.
Some of the canoes might be 1,000 years old.
“Until we get good dates, it’s hard to say anything for certain,” Janus archaeologist George Provenzali said. “We do know they’re very old.” "
